TheraPink for Girls is a non-profit organization for school aged girls. The program will aim to bring mental health awareness to this population while engaged in candid conversations through healthy girl talk.
Suicide rates for the middle school population in the United States continue to significantly increase, and is the 2nd leading cause of death for this age group in Georgia. As recently as 2018, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported 63 children ages 10-17 committed suicide in the state. Many children in Atlanta do not have insurance to receive appropriate services needed to address these challenges. More importantly, these youth lack access to quality-like professionals to receive the help needed towards prevention of suicide and additional life-long impacts.
TheraPink for Girls hopes to provide that access through direct and indirect engagement, as well as peer support.
